Demorrow Instruments: I own a marimba made by Doug DeMorrow. I really love this instrument! If you're interested in a new marimba or other keyboard percussion instrument, please visit Doug's website. Here's an article I wrote on Why I Play a DeMorrow Marimba. The link to the left is a photo of my instrument. I just don't think there's a better instrument on the market.
Mike Balter Mallets: I am an endorser of Mike's mallets and have been using them for over 20 years. I particularly like the Contemporary Marimba Series mallets. His very wide selection and attention to customer satisfaction is unparalleled.
Steve Weiss Music: Steve has a warehouse that contains one of the most extensive collections of percussion instruments, mallets and recordings for sale in the world, they also have an excellent sheet music catalog. You can always count on Steve and his knowledgeable associates to give it to you straight.
Percussion Specialist: an online store that has a comprehensive, high-quality selection of percussion music for sale. My percussion ensemble work Stealing Thunder can be purchased through their website.
Gary Burton: he is one of my favorite vibraphonists and was one of my early inspirations, My six mallet grip is somewhat derived from his four mallet grip.
Bill Molenhof: this well-known keyboard percussionist has a beautifully-designed website. Molenhof also uses six mallets and has written music that utilizes more than four. His website presents interesting information about him, his publisher, sheet music, books and CDs. His site also contains high resolution pictures, MP3 files and video clips—highly recommended site.
Musical Furnishings: this company located in Washington State makes furniture with a unique and fun twist: the surfaces have notes that can be played with mallets, just like a marimba. They make everything from tables and chests to outdoor benches and even porchswings. They also make colorful children's furniture. The photography on this site, by Tor Clausen and Melissa Phipps, his partner, is also exceptionally nice. Clausen's designs are a perfect example of combining the form and function of furniture design with the art of musical instrument building. All furniture should be this cool.
